Lucky Mr. Happy Pants

In Clive's third adventure in the "Sweetening" series, he finds out that his parents are going on a lunch date and that they've arranged a babysitter named Chrissie to come over and watch him. The innocent vixen is wearing a tube top. Clive starts feeling "tingly". Where are those purple pills again ... ?

Ah, in a drawer in his bedroom. Feeling randy, he offers a pill to the unsuspecting Chrissie in anticipation of the wild doings that would be sure to follow, but he abruptly retracts the offer and stashes the pill back in the drawer, consumed with guilt. I swear, I think Clive is the saddest sack that Tina Tirrell has ever created. Once your foot's in motion, you gotta step, little bro! In the event, it doesn't matter, because after they retreat to the living room to watch a movie, Chrissie excuses herself to the bathroom ... and goes right to Clive's room and gets the pill. Clive finds her bouncing on his bed, under the pill's influence. He bounces with her for a while, then she finally collapses, passes out.

What follows is like something out of classic silent comedy or vaudeville: Clive heroically trying to stretch her body out properly on the bed, but with the problem of the tube top having rolled off her chest ... and then trying to get that adjusted for her ... and then she finally wakes up. (Great scene, Tina!) After that? Hot stuff. Very hot. Some of the hottest scenes Ms. Tirrell has ever written are in the "Sweetening" series. I don't know what it is: the delirious females? the stoic, usually uncomprehending Clive reacting helplessly to their crazed desires? Whatever it is, it works.

Innovative, Original, and just plain fun

After using this program, I wouldn't want to learn a language any other way. It's scientifically telepathic in the way it makes you frget that you're learning a language, but instead hearing a wonderful story and listening to terrific music. Dunham and Dillingham are genuises at teaching while entertaining and will surely have more planned after this.
Being homeschooled and having experimented in teaching methods i've come to adopt this style of teaching to be the only logical one. If you're emotionally invested and care about what you're learning, then everything else will naturally follow. You will almost feel like you've discovered a record of a French radio program from long ago, only you'll understand what's going on and listen to a modern story. With this program it really will be a Beautiful Day.

Better than Pimsleur

Finally, a langauage learning system that is fun and captivating. It does sound like your listening to a Broadway musical. The music is beautiful and the story keeps you wanting more. I've been trying to learn Japanese with Pimsleur's CD set, but I'm finding it very boring with it's monotone repetition. I try to use my time in the car for learning a language, but I find myself drifting with the Pimsleur program. I've never tried Rosetta Stone, but it's a little pricey for me and it's not mobile. This CD set comes in a small carrying case which is great for keeping in the car or for travel. I recommend this program highly! I can't wait till they come out with Chinese.

I absolutely LOVED this program!!! I love languages (I speak 5 fluently and get by in 2 others). I have used many different methods to learn languages, but this is one of the best, if not THE best and funnest way to learn a language!! I HIGHLY recommend it!! It is fun, EASY and very effective! Unputdownable

Abimbola Dare has continued in the vein of her previous work, 'The Small Print', which was to send messages to listening ears and eyes without being overtly preachy. She has managed to create believable characters in real life situations with real life problems. All her characters are explained with the WHY alongside the WHAT makes them WHO they are. The WORD never gets in the way of a great story, while a great story never gets in the way of the WORD. It is a story that EVERY woman and man will learn from.

Well written and a compelling read. Thoroughly backed.

I didn't know what to expect when I started reading this book. I have never heard of this author so I was taking a leap of faith. From the very beginning I was into the book. I didn't want to put it down and had to force myself to stop reading. There was not one boring part of the book. There was also a big shocker that had me shaking my head. I will definitely be reading more books by this author.

Eye Opening, Enlightening Read!

In "When Broken Chords Sing", Abimbola Dare captured vividly the many facets of abuse that occur in our communities.

From parental abuse as in Chris' and Amina's families, to spousal abuse at various levels by Destiny in particular and the other residents of The Safe Place. She also reflected on the helplessness that bystanders in family settings, church settings, community settings feel in the face of such abuse as seen in Destiny's mother's refusal to admit her daughter's abuse by her husband and Amina's mother's inability to stand up to protect her daughter. To do that, they need to get out of and stay away from the abusive relationship and environment. That's what Kezzy should have done.

Very well written, I felt I was in the story experiencing it all with Destiny. I wish that I could give this book to all the young ladies I know, to help them know understand that abuse is something that they can walk into inadvertently like Destiny did, urging them to find themselves first before looking for a partner in life!

Sixty Years On

I read this book in grade school and loved it, I think I paid .25 cents. I am almost sixty now and still re-read it every couple of years. A great story. Lots to think about. I wish they would do a movie. The author also wrote the Witch Mountain books.
