About the Author
Dr. Moini is a Professor of Science at Eastern Florida State College. Formerly the Director of Allied Health Programs at Everest University, where he established the Medical Assisting Program and Associate Degree Program, Dr. Moini also served the Brevard County Health Department as an epidemiologist and health educator consultant, offering continuing education courses on pharmacology, medication errors, immunizations, and other important topics. Before coming to the United States, Dr. Moini spent nine years as an Assistant Professor at Tehran University Medical and Nursing School. An internationally published author of more than eight allied health textbooks, Dr. Moini is actively involved in helping students prepare for careers in various health professions, including pharmacy, nursing, and medical assisting.

Save Your Money!

I'm a pharmacy tech student and this text was provided as part of the course. The Instructor warned that there were several typo's and things... Five STRUGGLING chapters into it, it went into the trash and I replaced it with Pharmacy Calculations by Mike Johnston. Most of us learned about fractions, percents, etc. in grade school. How this author can take something that simple and complicate it to the point you're confused on doing simple math is beyond belief. Conversion factors on one page contradict conversion factors on another, yet you're supposed to use them to solve problems? The quizes at the end of each chapter only have answers to the even numbered problems? That may be the good news as a lot of answers are incorrect or typos. Pay someone to check the book for mistakes.

I'm writing a review for this book as a warning to others in the hopes that you don't buy this book. I'm studying for the National Pharm Tech exam and this book as so many mistakes that it is seriously pissing me off. Do they not bother to check for simple mistakes? Every chapter has a mistake, this is not an exageration. The book will contradict itself right on the same page. For example, the book says that 6oz is a cup. Then in the practice question ON THE SAME PAGE, the correct answer is 8oz for a cup. Mistakes like this are very common. If it were a couple I can forgive it but it has too many. If you start believing the book, you will learn the material incorrectly. Some of the medication information is wrong. The only reason I caught it is because my wife is a registered pharmacist and she caught the mistakes. So I was learning the wrong information which would of made me fail the exam. I double checked on the internet and she was right, the book has mistakes.

Just beware of the book if you decide to buy it. But with too many mistakes on the practice tests, it just gets fustrating not knowing if you really did get the right answer.

FIND ANOTHER CALCULATIONS BOOK. STAY AWAY!

Needs more work.

I was expecting more problems and less explanation. As a Pharmacy Tech Instructor I think we need more problems for the students. The instructor can explain how to do the math. This is a new text (copyright 2007), but the author includes a label from Propulsid. This drug has been off the market for 5-6 years. Also, instead of using the D,H, Q formula I prefer Dimensional Analysis (aka Unit Cancellation). I recommend Math Calculations for Pharmacy Technicians a Worktext by Fulcher.

Great book for making digital negatives

As an alternative process photographer, I found Ron Reeder's book to be extremely helpful. It simplifies the creation of digital negs and has allowed me to make high quality prints. Yes, it's only for those using Epson printers or those using Roy Harrington's amazing Quadtone RIP software (also only available for Epson printers). On the other hand, I'm pretty certain that a user could take Reeder's instructions and convert them with little difficulty so they could be used on Canon or HP printers as well. And while this book is written primarily for palladium users, it can easily be adapted to other processes including cyanotype, van dyke, kallitype, ziatype, collodion chloride, salt prints... the list goes on.

it is a good technical manual

I had seven students (Univ level) over the past three years working with digital negs: two really got a lot out of this book and applied it, the rest just couldn't quite figure it out. lol. I do think the cut of the cover is a bit skimpy, from a design angle which gives it a bit of a "home made" look and if you are paying this much for a book it should perhaps have a little less of that. However, it is a good technical manual.

Nietzsche did not write this book, and Levy did not translate it!

I read Walter Kaufmann's articles, available in the AMOK publication of this book, in which he explains why this book is a forgery, I'll share some of the reasons: The original manuscript of this book in German supposedly "disappeared" according to Samuel Roth, owner of the original publisher, Seven Sirens Press. Roth was known for publishing other forgeries of famous authors, including a fake sequel to Lady Chatterley's Lover. Roth claimed Oscar Levy translated it, but Oscar Levy had died 4 years before this was published, and while Levy EDITED his "Complete Works of Friedrich Nietzsche" Levy never considered his English good enough to do the translations himself! If you look at Levy's "Complete Works", he's always listed as the editor but never the translator, so it's very unlikely that he would consider his English good enough for this book but none of Nietzsche's other books, and it's very unlikely that Levy would leave this book out of his Complete Works series and instead sell it to a guy known for publishing forgeries. Levy's daughter denounced the book as a forgery and stated that her father had nothing to do with it. George David Plotkin, a minor author, confessed to Kaufmann shortly before his death that he wrote this book for Roth.

is this really Nietzsche?

Nietzsche's authorship of this work is in dispute. One reviewer claims Levy would not sanction a forgery, but I find it interesting that Levy chose not to include it in the Complete Works of Nietzsche that he edited. I've read it, and whoever wrote it sounds a hell of a lot like Nietzsche. It's an interesting work whether or not it is authentic. I don't quite buy the idea that his sister commissioned it since it does not make her look very good. It is possible that the motivation of claims of inauthenticity is a need to protect Nietzsche's reputation in the eyes of puritanical fans and that the work is indeed authentic, but it is also possible that it is a forgery (it sounds like him, but his style is easily parodied).

An interesting perspective on Nietzsche and his work

A diary from an insane asylum attributed to the most important philosopher of the post-modern era...

This book is controversial. Not for whether it is by Nietzsche himself (which it most likely is) but because it confesses to his sister's molestation of Nietzsche, and his subsequent erotic desires for her. If true, Nietzsche would have repressed such issues during his life, and only felt the courage to speak out about them close to his death. And if true, it pokes a gaping hole in the theory that Elisabeth commissioned this work, as it paints an unflattering picture of her.

This book would be very entertaining for both casual readers, as well as Nietzsche scholars. It is an interesting look into the mind of a brilliant genius. The fact that this book is often ignored by Nietzsche scholars seems to be a bit strange. Why? I believe that this book represents a diminution of Nietzsche's emphasis on the value of individual strength. Nietzsche in this text shows himself to be vulnerable to an overwhelming need for solace and love from others, values which he denounced throughout his career. (This adds further credence to the belief that this work is truly his, since what single dying man wouldn't wish that he had people who really cared for him around?) It seems that if a conspiracy existed to make one more Nietzsche book, it would have been a further exhortation to the will to power. However, because this book can be read as a parenthetical withdrawal from his espoused doctrines, it shows why theoreticians would decry its legitimacy. It is much easier to understand a man's writings if one ignores a lengthy inner contradiction.

But this is all the more a testament to the book's possible authenticity. Nietzsche's work is full of contradiction and reconfiguring of values. As he insists in the introduction to Beyond Good and Evil, why must we insist on the truth? Why not rather untruth?

An entertaining challenge to one's perspective on Nietzsche's philosophy, whether it is authentic or not.

I bought this book to learn more about pragmatics and its applications in data. I found this book well written. It flows through the topic in a step by step manner with sufficient depth and great examples. The book made the topic of pragmatics understandable and not superficial.

This is a book that anyone who works with data and information should read and understand to become Data Literate. It will remain one of my primary references.

I am in no way a linguist or someone versed in language but this book exposed a whole new world to me that helps me better understand two key factors in human and data communications; meaning and context.

The power of belief put into action

Lois Enochs makes writing look easy. Her fluid style is that of a friend telling you stories -- stories with such a surprising turn of events that you find yourself enthralled. First you agonize for her plight, and then you gasp at the odd coincidences. For awhile you have to wonder, and then you believe. And why not. The author has been a good traveller throughout her life -- observing, taking mental notes and photographs, and then applying her positive outlook to make sense of each leg of the journey. Nothing is too random, nothing too mundane. Everything is important and necessary.

Enochs believes in a Christian God but her faith is broad enough to draw in everyone but the most rigid practitioner. If you take away nothing else from the book remember this gentle admonition: "Go forth and play nice."

An excellent book describing universal energy and manifestation

It has been a long time since a book equal to Florence Scovel Shinn's "The Game of Life and How to Play It", has caught my interest. Lois Enochs' "Miracles Only Come in One Size", is, in my opinion, another great book that teaches about the positive effect of good karmic deeds and positive thinking. Her wisdom about how things work in life is, in my mind, totally in keeping with the experimental evidence of Dr. Benjamin Libet whose early work with evoked brain potentials, now confirmed by functional MRI, demonstrated that we apparently lag behind our conscious awareness by 1/3 of a second. However, he admits to a 1/5 second window of opportunity during which we just may affect that which is already in progress if we are clear in our thinking and on top of the problem. Lois Enochs, through her compelling stories of her experience, self-reliance, and working with universal energy, teaches us how to take advantage of that small moment in time. This book is highly recommended for the spiritual seeker who will see that the Universe is a well-oiled machine and there are no accidents.
